- Identify Bleed Points:
- Locate the bleed points in your hydraulic system. These are typically air vent valves or bleed screws placed at high points in the system where air tends to accumulate.
- Prepare the System:
- Ensure that the hydraulic system is turned off and depressurized. This is crucial for safety reasons.
- Position the Equipment:
- Position the equipment or machinery so that the bleed points are easily accessible. It may require adjusting the orientation or tilting the equipment to allow air to escape effectively.
- Loosen the Bleed Points:
- Carefully loosen the air vent valves or bleed screws using the appropriate wrench or tool. Loosen them just enough to allow trapped air to escape without entirely removing them.
- Start Bleeding:
- Activate the hydraulic system or start the equipment, and allow the hydraulic fluid to circulate. This will create pressure and push the air towards the bleed points.
- Bleed Air:
- Gradually open the air vent valve or bleed screw at the system’s highest point, allowing air to escape. You may notice air bubbles or a hissing sound as air is released.
- Maintain the bleed point open until you observe a steady flow of hydraulic fluid without any air bubbles. This indicates that air has been purged from the system.
- Close the Bleed Points:
- Once all the air has been bled from the system, carefully close the air vent valves or bleed screws. Ensure that they are tight enough to prevent any leaks.
- Repeat the Process:
- If your hydraulic system has multiple bleed points or you suspect air presence in different sections of the system, repeat steps 4 to 7 for each bleed point until all air is removed.
- Check Fluid Level:
- Verify the hydraulic fluid level in the reservoir or tank. If necessary, add fluid to maintain the recommended level.
- Test System Operation:
- With the hydraulic system fully bled, test its operation to ensure that it functions smoothly without any issues. Activate the equipment or machinery and observe its performance.
